So i didnt make a proper introduction thread when i was granted authorship.
Here goes.
Hi.
Just kidding, my name is Cody and I am currently a graduate student majoring in Deaf Education with a bachelor of sciences in Integrated Science Education. I am profoundly Deaf and use American Sign Language. Cool, huh?
Im a car guy big-time like everyone else here. I daily drive a 2011 Saab 9-5. My last car was a tuned 2007 Saab 9-3 Aero convertible that made 330 hp and 430 tq (up from 250hp and 258 tq). My last last car was a 2005 Saab 9-3 that was tuned to 260 hp and 280 tq (up from 210 hp and 220 tq)
So yeah, Im a diehard Saab fanboy. I have a tattoo of the chemical symbol for lead on my right foot (you can figure out the meaning).
Ive gotten 5 speeding tickets all for 15+ over in three different states.
Picture of my baby
The 2007 Saab
The 2005 Saab
It was totaled by a Mustang traveling at 50 mph at time of impact

It's good you've set standards. You might need to diversify your dead brands, though - a DeSoto might work.

Welcome. I know I asked about the 9-5 the other day, but I still want to bombard you with questions. Do you wish you would've gone with the v6? Are your buttons wearing down like I see on many I look at?

Sweet ass saabs mate. A long belated 'welcome', I guess. Is there any aftermarket for those saabs besides, like, exhaust and whatnot?

Awesome cars! You don't hear too much about tuned Saabs, how did the driveline cope with all that power? Any mods necessary?

Welcome! I love Saabs too, though unfortunately have had none, especially not as nice as yours.

I had a pontiac and an oldsmobile (twice). That diverse enough?

All i did was change oil and a lot of tires. That was it. The motors in these are stout.

For the older 9-5 and 9-3, plenty but for the new 9-5, not so much because it was made for such a short time and not a lot were made (11k worldwide)

It's certainly a good start. Needs more dead Mopar and Ford, though. Get an Edsel and an old Plymouth or DeSoto - then I shall be appeased.

Nope, i had a 330 hp v6 and i went down to a 220 hp turbo 4, that should tell you how good the motor is. The direct injection raises thr torque to 258 essentially matching the previous 2.8T V6's torque. My buttons hasnt worn down and i didnt have any issues in the last two saabs. Key is to clean with a damp cloth (water only).

Nice, really makes me wonder why I see so many with white buttons. They don't look any different than GM spec of that time but they must be.

Wow, impressive. They are good cars though, four people in my extended family have/have had one. We all loved my mom's 9-5 until the engine got sludgy and seized up. Guess there's always some duds haha

The majority of car owners doesnt care as long it goes from point a to point b. I care as well but I want it looking damn good while doing that.

Thats actually a common issue. Saab had like seven redesigned PCV valves to combat that. Key is to change oil regularly with syn oil and keep the pcv updated as well as drop the sump from time to time to inspect and clean as needed.

Saab 4 lyfe. If I hadn't ended up getting my Logo, I was considering a red Saab convertible as my second choice.
Incidentally, I actually do have a sign-name (for those not aware of deaf culture, my mother once considered becoming an interpreter and one of my cousins actually did, hearing people don't choose their sign name it is chosen for them by a deaf friend, colleague, etc). Mine is K over the heart.

Can you explain to me why people love SAABs? I just don't get it. It is the same with recent Alfa Romeo cars*. To me they are just another luxo FWD car.
*with exception of 8C and 4C

I can't explain why for other people but for me, I can. The Saabs for me offers a perfect mix of luxury, usefulness, speed, and handling. It handles better than most of the FWD cars and the turbo powertrains may not deliver impressive numbers but they're astonishing on the highways. It also is unique. I'm pretty much the only Saab in town (a town of 50,000 people). Its just a Saab thing.

I think it is time for you to step up and own a truly awesome dead brand. Packard, Pierce Arrow, Tucker, etc. I covet thy neighbors 9-5. Nice automobile.

I stalked 9-5's for a year before going back to a VW Phaeton, I almost got a 2011 Manual Brown 9-5 a year ago, but could not make the financing happen (another problem with orphaned brands, most 'regular' banks don't cover them in regular loans) I also saw the 'peeling button' syndrome in soo many 9-5s. WTF GM? I also really dislike that horrible dash with the green 1999-screen XM-Radio. I nearly avoided the 2.0's because the dash. (Is better IMHO to get the light-colored interiors) But Nav only came on the V6's or I didnt see any V4's with Nav. So I was back and forth between a 4 and 6 cyl until I never pulled the trigger. Questions: Did you get the manual? Any repairs and has the dealer been able to make them? Also, the 18" tires look a lot better but are hard to find. Where you find yours?

Ahhh ok. That seemed like something my parents could've been doing until you got to "drop the sump". Still miss that car—first car I ever drove after I got my learner's permit.

Heya, welcome to Oppo. :)
There's a few SAAB drivers on here. I'm driving a '96 9000 2.3T CSE with some ECU and exhaust work.
Here's a question for you: How do the NEVS shenanigans make you feel? :)

is that your car on the 'Ring? If so I hate you. Personally, I have no feelings. Saab was a niche brand and it wasn't sustainable in the long run. I feel that was due to management and bean counters. Plus the high prices they charged didn't help. My car retailed at 44k and I picked it up for 16g two years later...

It is me and my two darlings on the 'ring. Don't hate me, though, 'ring proximity (well, 1000km away anyway) comes at high fuel and car prices as well as lower standard of living. :D
Yeah, I was stumped too when I noticed they had the value of my car in the insurance registry put down as 48.000€. I'm not sure if or how that's inflation-adjusted, but still, damn. I bought it off the previous owner for 2.000€ when it was 14 years old. Comparable BMWs, Audis & Mercs still commaned prices of about twice as much. Then again, nobody wants to feed these hungry bastards nowadays, so used large car prices (EU) dropped across the board.
